DSC Policies & Procedures
Off-ice and Preparation:

All skaters are to do a minimum of 10-20 minutes of off-ice warm-up and stretch (dynamic) before putting their skates on. This is important to prevent injury and increase muscle and body temperature.

Off-ice space is for skaters only.

Sneakers are required for off-ice training; boots, Crocs, shoes, etc are not acceptable footwear.

Hair must be fully pulled back.

Skate bags should include:

Water bottle
-
Skipping rope
-
Notebook and pencil
-
Extra elastics, gloves, socks, and skate laces

Kleenex and Band-Aids
-
Emergency contact numbers
-
Blade drying cloth and soft guards

Dressing rooms are for skaters only. Absolutely no parents or guardians permitted.

Skaters must be able to tie their own skates.

Hard guards must be worn between the dressing room and the ice surface to protect the blades.

Skaters warming up before free skate should not talk or disrupt on-ice or off-ice training.

Skaters are expected to clean up after themselves.
On the ice:

Skaters must wear proper apparel:
-
Skating skirts, dresses, leggings, or tights.
-
No winter jackets, sweaters with hoods, hats, or scarves are permitted on the ice.

Dresses must be worn for tests

Please dress warmly with lots of layers

Phones may not be used or checked during on- or off-ice sessions. They may be used to play solos only when needed.

Skaters must ask an instructor to leave the ice or an off-ice session.

Parents are not allowed to stand, coach, or disrupt at the rinkside during any training sessions.

During Free skate sessions, the soloist has the complete right of way. Lesson skaters will have the second right-of-way.

Disrespectful language, gestures, or actions during on-ice or off-ice sessions will not be tolerated.

Do not put others at risk by kicking the ice.

Do not stand or coast in the middle of the ice. Be aware of the fast-moving sessions.

Prolonged sitting on the ice after a fall is prohibited.

Spins are to be done only in the middle of the ice, between the two blue lines.
-
No food or gum should be taken on the ice.
-
Plastic or aluminum water bottles are acceptable, but must be left at the boards. Glass bottles are not permitted.
